How Am I Supposed To Decide My Life!

Hello,

From a young age, every little girl/boy thinks that they know what they want to do when they grow up. The majority of little girls want to be a princess as they will get brought up watching films about princesses and watch TV.

As your likes and dislikes change the ‘ideal’ job also changes. For me, in primary school i always wrote stories- whenever we had a little bit of time in-between lessons i would sit and write. I was about 8 and this led me to want to be a journalist or an author when i grew up. When getting asked what i wanted to be when i grew up in primary school it was very easy to list jobs that would be perfect for me - not knowing what subjects/qualifications i needed.

I think that as you are younger and are in primary school and maybe in the first years of secondary school, it is really easy to list jobs that you want to do. When you are younger it is easy to wish of jobs and have the dream without knowing how hard they are and what qualifications are needed for those jobs.

A year or so back, i wanted to be a graphic designer- based purely on the fact that i enjoyed the subject and whenever we did a test- i got really high marks.

In many S.P.D days in school, we did about careers. In Year 8-9 i decided that i didn't know what i wanted to do with my life and i didn't have a clue in which job i wanted to do. I felt left out in my friend group as they all had an idea as to what they wanted to do with their life and when answering questions about jobs they had the answers.

In Year 9, i chose my options, 3 other subjects that i wanted to do as part of my GCSE’s. The options i chose were
Geography- as i really enjoyed it
French- as i wanted to pursue another language in order to travel
Graphics- this wasn't my first choice but the other course wasn't going to run so i chose graphics as i enjoyed it in other years.
The core subjects in which i had to take were, Maths; English; Science and R.E

Essentially these options were supposed to aid you in opening doors to your chosen career. For me, i chose these subjects based on if i was doing well in them and if i enjoyed them. There was no point in me choosing a subject that i didn't like as it would mean that i wouldn't pass it at GCSE.

To this day, i still don't know what job/career i want to pursue in later life. At the minute all my friends are talking about university (way into the future, but hey! its better to think ahead than to not think at all). For me, with my anxiety, the thought of going to university is scary. Discussing it with people is a really good way to get your thoughts out and see if what you were thinking off is the smartest choice.

At this point, I'm focusing on my GCSE’s and (fingers crossed) passing them!. The next step will be my A-levels, if i haven't thought of the job that i want to do, then just like picking my GCSE’s, i will choose subjects that I'm good at and that i like. After A-levels becomes the choice of University. I really want to go travelling around the world - but that does come at a very expensive cost.

What I've decided is to take a gap year and go travelling if i haven't thought of a career by the time University rolls around. Theres no point in studying for a degree which i have no interest in. If i have thought of a definite career choice then i will possibly look into University- depending on how i feel about it at the time.
Looking into the future of your life and planning things out at a young age is hard- especially if you don't know for definite what you want to do.

Maybe in a few years my ‘plan’ on University will have changed and i will be more knowing of what i want to do. Hopefully it will have done as I'm not planning on going to university for quite some time yet. However i definitely want to go travelling - whether it be before University, or after!

What are your thoughts on life choices? Do you think that its easier making career choices younger or not? please let me know your thoughts in the comments below!

A Very Chatty TAG

Hello everybody,

So, i got a new MacBook Air for christmas which means that i will be blogging more .

But for the time being, blog posts will be either, tag questions or other blog posts like my last one.

So without further ado, here is a tag that i found on the internet which covers a variety of topics just so you can get to know me a little bit better.

Makeup:
blush or bronzer-
i don't really wear any but if i had to choose it would be bronzer

lip gloss or lipstick-
lipstick definitely, having long hair is a bad thing when putting on lip gloss as it just gets caught!

eye liner or mascara-
this one is the hardest as i love both! i would probably say mascara as if i don't have it on my eyes look really small and tiny

foundation or concealer-
a good concealer- some days i cannot be bothered to put foundation on so i stick with concealer but it has to be a really good concealer so it covers blemishes and redness.

neutral or colour eye shadow
neutral eyeshadow all the way! you cannot go wrong with neutral shades at all

pressed or loose eye shadows
in all honesty- i like both but if i had to choose then i would say pressed eyeshadows as they stay on longer and don't fall down like a loose eyeshadow would when applying it

brushes or sponges
brushes. i find that with sponges it just places the makeup in one place and doesn't really blend in very well. The brushes i love are the Real Techniques ones. They are super affordable and are excellent brushes. I love them!

Nails:
OPI or china glaze-
i generally get my nails done with acrylic so i don't generally paint my nails much but i would say O.P.I as they have amazing colours

Long or short
long! i find that if i have acrylic nails on then i have them long as i prefer them that way but my own nails are short as i find they are hard to grow.

Acrylic or natural
I'm guessing you know this answer? acrylic definitely! i just love how when i get them done they don't chip and they stay on for a long time

Brights or darks
brights! i will even have bright colours in the winter. i find that i don't suit dark colours and they never look right so i never wear them

Flower or no flower
no flower. i find that they get caught in my hair and chances are they will fall off the next day

Fashion:
long sleeve of short

short sleeved. long sleeves annoy me and make me feel really hot and trapped

dresses or skirts
none! i never wear any as i don't like them both but if i had to choose then i would choose a skirt as you could wear it with anything

stripes or plaid
plaid. I'm really getting into over-sized plaid shirts as its cold weather in Britain and they go with anything

flip flops or sandals
sandals. I absolutely hate flip flops with a passion. I find them so irritating

studs or dangly earrings
i prefer studs as i have really small ears so dangly earrings are really heavy on my ears

necklaces or bracelets
bracelets as i love layering them with others and having a lot of them on at once!

heels or flats
both! flats for everyday as they are comfortable and are casual but if i going for a family event then i may choose heels as they are more dressy and fit the occasion

jacket or hoodie
jacket- I'm a naturally cold person but in some shops they either have the heating on or the air conditioning which means that one minute I'm cold and then the next I'm red hot. having a hoodie means that I'm constantly taking it off and on whereas a jacket i could just leave on

forever 21 or charlotte russe
I've only ever been to forever 21 and that was while i was in America so i would have to say forever 21 as i loved it when i went in.

Hair:
curly or straight
straight. i have my hair straight when i have it down and you need your hair to be a couple of days unwashed for curls to stay in so i prefer to have my hair straight

bun or ponytail
a ponytail is always my go-to hairstyle when my hair looks rubbish down and i cannot be bothered to do anything with it. because my hair is quite long then a bun takes time

long or short
long hair definitely! i think that you can do much more with long hair and personally i wouldn't suit short hair

light or dark
my hair at the minute is brown (my natural colour) with blonde highlights. Since i haven't had my highlights done for a while the blonde has grown to the bottom so it looks like I've had it dip-dyed (ombré) but i would like to go back dark brown so i wouldn't mind them both!

up or down
i hate having my hair up- i only have my hair up when i have no time and i need it to look decent.

i hope you liked this chatty TAG. I tag anybody who wants to do this. there will be more TAG's until i sort things out and i hope to sort out a schedule for 2015 so that i am more organised.

It's Crazy How Things Change

Hello everyone,

First thing i want to say is, i hope you have had an amazing christmas!

For me things have changed massively within the past couple of years. The biggest thing was family changes and moving houses (which we are thinking of doing again). I find myself looking through old photos and think about I - as a person- have changed. For example, a when i was in Year 7 my hair was just touching my shoulders and was really brown. Now its longer and more blonde towards the end -purely from the highlights I've had in.

Another thing I've noticed that has changed within myself is my makeup skills. Now In all honesty i do think that i have gotten considerably better with applying smokey eyes, eyeliner and things like that. Before i had no idea on what each thing was for and what it was supposed to do. Now I've learnt (from countless times at makeup counters and watching a lot of YouTube videos) how to apply things.

Friends have been a huge part of changing within the years. Im sure she won't mind me saying or mentioning this as she has already mentioned this story on her blog. Before i mention the story, i would just like to say that over time we have became friends again. Now she is someone that i can count on and she is someone who i can talk to at whatever time of the day and she will give me advice.

Back in year 7 me and Shania from (http://bubblybabyelephants.blogspot.co.uk) were best friends. We were always over each others houses and we used to stay over one anothers house for 2-3 over the weekend, due to the fact that we lived within short walking distance of each others houses. However due to certain circumstances, we slowly stopped talking to one another. If you looked at both of us now you would never have guessed that we once never liked each other. From an outsiders point of view we both love the same things (YouTubers, One Direction, and things like that). We now get on better than we have ever done. Before, we would have spoken to each other if we have to, now we speak to each other about anything and everything. I know she is always there if i need someone to talk to and she knows that I'm always there for her whenever she needs me.

Making new friends has also been a big change. Within the past year the friends that i started 2014 with are completely different friends as to who I'm ending 2014 with. Due to circumstances that made me change friend groups, I'm now friends with people that i never expected myself to be friends with. We are all completely different from each other but i guess thats what makes us best friends. I know they always have my back and are always there for me - as i am for them!

I'm not saying that time changes everything - as it doesn't. But what i am saying is that, if you are feeling down or unhappy, surround yourself with people/things that make you happy.

Maturity comes with age and time also. Just because you don't like somebody now, doesn't mean that spending time with them and being around them, won't make you change your mind and become friends with them!

You may not see change appearing right away but take time to look back at you life and your past years and see how much either you as a person, or people around you have changed. You'll be surprised at how much can change in a year or so!
